Atrocious (Maniac Monkie King & Macaque)
Based, and Inspired by @dez-ku :'>
They're my favorite artist! When I saw, the fanart, I just had to whip up a quick fanfic.
Link to the Art!
================
" Monkie King? "
" Hey kiddo! You mind if I borrow, him for a bit?"
°
°
°
The way the dark-furred demon, cried made his heart tighten, clenching his chest badly.
More and more tears began to pool up, before big droplets of water, came rushing down Macaque's chin due to being overwhelmed.
His expression was hideous, absolutely disgusting. But those tears looked crystal clear, They reflected just the right amount of natural lighting in his surroundings, and they resembled glossy pearls.
It was a surprise that those pearly droplets came from someone so monstrous.
That made the orange-furred monkey, constantly demand his most loyal monkeys, to make the loudest noise, at places where he knew, Macaque would be resting. The immortal sage, made it clear to himself, that he'd do anything, to make his 'companion' feel explicit pain.
It was wrong to but as a demon. It was easy to give in, to temptation.
Could you blame him though? His high-pitched screeching, and the constant begging for the pain to stop, was something that Monkie King, secretly and desperately craved.
Even if that caused his six multicolored ears, to bleed daily.
When it did occur. A crimson liquid, coated the grass.
As if on cue, The Sage, would come to his rescue, acting like a hero, a protective savour to sooth his victim— friend, and immediately reassure him, that the monkeys are having mindless fun. It's not something done in a sinister light nor intention.
There laying on his lap, was pathetic excuse of a demon, slowly crippling away in self pity. Wukong's eyes, scanned every expression, every twitch, every grimace.
Tears, pricked at the corner of Lihou's eye.
It was awfully, distasteful for a Infamous Sage, to have to run his fingers across the messy locks of the black-furred monkey, but sacrifices, had to be made.
So he listened in to every word that spilled out from Macaque's quivering lips.
In this way, It was easy to know Macaque's weakness.
What sound, made the demon tick.
That made him beg, and fall down to the ground, begging for the noise to stop, while they shamefully, plead to be put out of their misery.
Despite his symphatic gaze, Wukong intrenally laughed, laughing at how pitiful his friend looked. He didn't care, whether or not, it was morally wrong or not.
All he cared about, was seeing him sob and writh in pain
He clenched on Macaque's chin, caressing his friend's hair and fur, before turning his head, and pretending to make the monkies to shush.
The immortal sage, desired, for his mental breakdown to never stop, the way he greedily gasped for air, made Wukong feel strange, in a good way. But alas, He had to look like his friends knight in shining armor, He wanted to be the only person Macaque could turn too.
In order to do that, He had to make Macaque go distant, with the others animals, It was easy especially with his ears.
Did he care for the monkey?
No , he didnt, Not a single ouce of his soul cared for him.
He, just didn't want anyone making him smile, He was the only one allowed to make him smile, and the only one allowed to wipe it off his face.
He wanted to see Macaque hurt, both physically and mentally.
Make him so broken, that nobody would want him, nor would he want anyone else.
Then come swooping his victim up his arm, saying "I'm the only one, that cares for you"
Even though the scrolls, written had stated that Li Hou, was a Trickster God, the most mischievous fellow. It was Wukong, that was cruel out the both of them.
In the stories, Macaque was said to have attack the precious Tripitaka and, Wukong, the brave hero was the one who killed the beast.
Not everyone knew, only himself know that Macaque was only trying to warn, the monk from Wukong, trying to save him, after figuring out the Sage's true intention.
He refused, for Wukong to have another victim to manipulate and hurt him.
But if an unknown demon comes running to you at full force, with six ears, disheveled fear and blood thirsty eyes, than anyone can mistake it, as an attack.
Wukong, swiftly pinned him down, and his fingers twitched, at the sound of the measly cries of the demon. It has been centuries, since he last heard that cry
The whole trip to the west and, being trapped under the mountain didn't exactly give him time to enjoy his odd hobbies.
The finger joints, of Macaque's, had a purple undertone now, and was severly bruised, indicating he was in excruciating pain from overuse, of his limbs as a result from fighting so frequently to defend his own life—yet no matter how much physical pain was inflicted, towards the demon monkey.
The Monkie king believed, that was never enough, after so long too, He craved for that heartwrenching feeling of hearing the sobs of his friend.
To him a friend, was someone that gave him immense happiness.
He, licked his eye, the one he plucked right out of the demon's face. It was slimey, had a weird texture but Wukong didn't care, He was giddy knowing it was Macaque's eye, and for him.
He defined that as happiness.
It was his last fight, the terrified face of his past friend, was just staring at him, no pulse can be seen.
Wukong, frowned for a moment, He wished the fight would have go on any longer.
There was no pulse, He sighed before swiftly kicking the body off the cliff. He, didn't really care about dead bodies, he preferred them alive,
He, would miss the way Macaque would cry, but right now, A dead body was such a liability, and a pathetic thing like him, didn't deserve a priper burial.
He knew, he'd just reincarnate. or be brought back to life or something.
Besides, Wukong had all eternity to wait for his pal, to raise back up from the grave or come back.
If he got impatient, than a trip to the underworld could be a must.
°
°
°
"Who hurt you?" The brunette questioned, his voice was soft spoken and tinted with concern. Macaque, couldn't answer that question, not now.
"Please.." The child, persisted and even pleaded, while he wrapped the bandages, around the demon's waist. Basing heavily on the wounds, He took quite the beating.
Macaque was getting mended by MK. Working quietly tailed behind them and thought how much waste of materials, That could be.
That six-eared bastard's only purpose was to be his plaything.
Wukong knew that bastard would just come back, over and over again, so there was no point in wasting such good materials.
Besides, There was that never-ending cycle that would come back, with torturing, making him cry, and seeing his last breath before dying. Then getting reincarnated.
Buddha knew not to interfere with his affairs, after all.
"Heya Bud! Mind if I borrow, Macaque over here?" The orange-furred monkey snickered, and interrupted him mid-sentence, with his hands behind his back.
He smiled at Macaque, and Macaque knew what that smile meant.

Damn I was playing rain world (like a total pro ofc) and I FOUND A KID for the third time of my playing in that torture game
And my slugcat was colored yellow and red, somehow reminds of Wukong, and a slugpup was black with white eyes and that reminds me of MK
So it's a FAMILY now, I'm not abandoning this child or canceling this campaign for the rest of my life
Soon I will be making a proper designs for them
It's a crossover no one asked for

Wukong ONLY learned how to drive motorcycles — primarily cause he was bored and thought they were cool. He cannot drive a normal car to save his life, he's not bad BUT he gets confused and he has a lead foot sometimes.

Mei is connected to Chaos - Theory (Spoilers)
Tumblr media
This theory started out after I did an analysis of chaos powers and how they work, more specifically with our two known chaos-powers-holders: Macaque and Xiangliu.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here I realized that their chaos powers share two very important traits, that are also found in the Samadhi Fire:
The powers have a connection to the persons state of mind (meaning if they are unstable, the powers will also be unstable)
Just look at how, after Xiangliu lost connection to chaos, he went insane.
Tumblr media
And then there is also the theory that the reason Macaque died was actually because his shadow powers took over him, as we see here (Just look at how they latch on to his body!):
Tumblr media
He even laughed like a maniac while Wukong and Macaque were fighting! (as we heard in season 5)
2. They also have a general black core in the middle, no matter if its just general chaos powers, or shadow powers, which core seems to be chaos.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And this also goes for the Samadhi fire!
1. The Samadhi fire is incredibly unstable, and if Mei wasn’t in the right state of mind, she would have destroyed the world.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Princess Iron Fan describing the Samadhi Fire: “But over time it became… unstable.”
2.The Samadhi fire does indeed have a very strong black core, even after Mei has taken control of it!
Tumblr media
Not only that: Try to take look at how it looks, when the Samadhi Fire was about to explode vs when Macaque used the stronger parts of his shadow/chaos powers:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AND how Mei, Xiangliu, and Macaque also has a sort “lightning” connected to their powers:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mei: “This ol zippi zappy lightning thing? I’ve always kind of- “
Red Son: “You haven’t lost your connection. That’s the Samadhi Fire!”
Tumblr media
And if The Samadhi Fire is connected to chaos, it would actually also explain why Red Son even had the Samadhi Fire!
Because it’s not treated as a part of Red Son’s "normal powers". Instead, the Samadhi Fire is explained as a completely different thing. Seeing as they could remove that part of his powers, without removing the rest.
DBK: We had no option but to… remove this power:
Tumblr media
And while it may sound strange at first, that someone would give a demon baby, chaos powers (as they did with Macaque in the “deal”), it does actually make sense.
As whoever that “he” is, that Xiangliu mentioned, seems to want the universe to be destroyed. And what was it, that was so dangerous about the Samadhi fire again?
Red son:” The Samadhi fire is more than just an inextinguishable flame. It’s an interdimensional weapon with a destructive power to burn through the very fabric of reality!”
Tumblr media
And not only would it destroy the fabric of reality, but it would also destroy the cycle! (it is “interdimensional” after all)
Which would also explain why LBD was so interested in first MK and Wukong (someone who has a very close connection with the cycle) and then the Samadhi fire! (Something that could destroy the cycle)
She likely knew about the cycle, which would make her motivation for “destroying” it, make even more sense.
Tumblr media
So, if anything, giving Red Son (especially as a baby) chaos powers, would actually be a really clever, and quick way, to destroy the cycle, leaving only the primordial chaos left:
Tumblr media
(notice the lightning again!)
And this is not just speculating! As we saw in season 5, they kept bringing the Samadhi Fire up, meaning it’s still important.
More specifically with this little guy, who is not only a “failed replica of the Samadhi Fire”, but also has an incredibly important place in Chinese Mythology!
Tumblr media
More specifically I believe him to be “a failed replica” of Taouwu, who is explained as: “a creature with a human face, tiger’s feet, pig’s teeth, a long tail, and flowing hair.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And what do you know? That fits our little creature exactly!
Meaning that the one who gave Red Son thoughs powers was Taouwu, and now (when Red Son tried to make a replica of it), it represents itself as Taouwu!
And Taowu is actually also known to be part of a group called “The Four Evils”, that are known to be the most malevolent beings in the Chinese mythology!
Tumblr media
They are even sometimes explained as being the antagonist counterparts of the Four Guardians! Meaning that if the Guardians symbolize “order”, these guys symbolize “chaos”. (Which is definitely important!)
Tumblr media
Which could hint at, that either one of these guys are the “he” who is winning or is connected to him in some way! (Hundun, as seen in the picture, legit represents “chaos”)
And that’s not even getting into the theory, that the Four Evils have a high chance of being the ones, or one of them at least, who made a deal with Macaque! Though- that will take some time to explain, so I will just link that theory here.
But more importantly the Taowu, in itself, symbolizes stubbornness and arrogance.
And here we have Red Son (someone who is very arrogant) and Mei (someone who is very stubborn), who has thoughs powers, meaning that they would also be the perfect fit for these powers!
Quick examples:
Red Son: “Get off me you peasants!”
Tumblr media
Red son: “You (Mei) and the newdle boy will stop at nothing to defeat her (LBD), that’s how I know you won’t lose.”
Tumblr media
Conclusion
The Samadhi Fire is, in its core, a destructive and unstable power, aka: a chaos power.
Tumblr media
Which also includes a lot of similarities back to normal chaos powers (like we see with Xiangliu and Macaque) With examples like being unstable, a black core, and lightning.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meaning that Red Son didn’t “create” the Samadhi Fire, and instead was likely given it by one of the Four Evil’s, more specifically Taouwu.
And since Red Son already had fire powers, and was a demon baby, no one would suspect anything, and Red Son wouldn't remember getting them.
But what do you guys think? :)

{Eternal Servants AU} Wukong & Macaque ♡ Obedience
Art drawn by me + the OC is mine... Also the mentioned OCs and the AU itself.
My LMK AU's first ever fic, lezgooo- :D
This one's mainly just showing off the relationship between the monkeys as well as the Reader. The AU actually does feature some input from that one OC group of mine, even if they mostly operate in the background. Some of them do occasionally show up. It wouldn't be one of my universes if they had no input since they're all connected by this group of individuals... A good example would be CM from Castle's Pet, if any of my ancient old Quotev/Wattpad Undertale X Reader fans are reading this.
[TL;DR] Just your monkeys being wholesome while murdering another demon.
Tumblr media
♡ ~ Fluff ~ ♡
Seated on your throne, you sighed as you waited for your purple champion's return. You sent out Macaque to retrieve an ancient artifact a demon stole from your palace's storage. Usually it wouldn't take him long to hunt someone down. After all, he was used to tracking down any that would oppose you and would bring them to justice. However, something must've happened since he obviously wasn't back yet. This was highly unusual for either one of your champions.
'Did he get into an accident?', you thought to yourself, now getting worried.
Your blue champion seemed to notice your sudden change in mood. He didn't even need to feel it through your eternal bond, he could just tell by looking at your concerned expression. He leaned down a bit as he obediently stood next to your throne, looking at you with his void black eyes. "Master, is something bothering you?"
You turned your head a bit to look at him. "It's just... Where's Macaque?"
"Unfortunately, I'm not sure whether or not he's still occupied with the thief." He responded flatly with little to no emotion. You hummed in thought for a moment before you turned to face him again.
"Wukong, I want you to check up on your brother... Help him if he needs help, but at least just make sure he's not hurt or anything." You said firmly. The monkey in blue moved in front of you and bowed.
"As you wish, Master."
And with that, he summoned his somersault cloud and hopped onto it before swiftly flying off into the direction of where his sworn brother left to hunt down the thief.
Across the land, a giant smoke monster could be seen fighting a giant demon in green and black. It seemed like a tough battle as the demon the monster was fighting was very aggressive and wild in its attacks. When suddenly, a blunt hit to the back of the green and black demon slammed the demon in green and black face-first into the ground of the clearing they were fighting in. Its body created a giant crater. It was still alive, but just barely as it laid there motionless. It seemed like the battle already weakened it and the blow to the back was too much for it to handle.
The simian piloting the giant smoke monster panted a bit from exhaustion as he smiled darkly at the fallen demon. But then he turned towards the direction of his ginger-furred brother, who was standing on his cloud with crossed arms, and huffed. "Thanks, but I could've taken him down on my own. It just would've taken a bit."
"Master told me to make sure you weren't hurt." Wukong stated as-a-matter-of-factly.
Macaque's smile turned from maniac to apologetic as he sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck, with his giant smoke avatar mirroring his motion. "Oh man, did I take too long again? I didn't mean to make them worry... I just kinda got caught up with stopping the thief. He used the artifact he stole and it turned him into a feral titan." He added as the giant smoke monster gestured towards the other demon on the ground. That's when the monkey on the cloud quickly zoomed down towards the unconscious demon's body. It took him a few seconds, but he quickly spotted the artifact hanging from the titan's satchel. After he took it away from the giant demon, the demon's body seemingly shrunk back to its original size, still unconscious in the ginormous crater. The simian carefully held onto the artifact, as to not accidentally trigger its power, before his cloud flew back to his sworn brother. After Macaque saw the other demon's now normal-sized body, his smoke monster avatar disappeared around him as he stretched with his feet now touching the ground again.
He grinned at the ginger-furred monkey, seeing him hold the artifact the thief stole. "Guess now we also know what thing does... Did Master say anything about wanting us to kill the guy, or to place him in the punishment wing?"
Wukong shook his head in response, his face still not holding any emotion. Macaque sighed. "Well, damn... But I guess we might as well end him now than risk having him try to steal again, right?" He chuckled as he slowly walked towards the unconscious demon's body. The dark-furred monkey gave the demon a wicked grin, not expecting a response as he summoned his shadow staff. "Nothing personal, dude. Just making sure our beloved Master is forever safe and comfortable! Any who are at risk of opposing them in any way must be eliminated..."
And with that, he smashed his staff's thorny end down onto the demon's head, ending his life with one last strike. Wukong just gave the corpse a bored look before he uncrossed his arms. "Do you need a ride back?" The Monkey King asked, referring to Macaque's exhaustion after battle. He could just help the other monkey relax and calm down with his somersault cloud, after all.
However, Macaque just waved his hand dismissively as he took a deep breath. "Nah, but thanks. I'm a bit tired, but not enough to stop me from using my powers. Do you want a ride back though?" He grinned before he summoned a shadow portal on the ground next to himself. Wukong's mouth just faintly twitches upwards for a split second, but it was enough to make his the dark-furred simian chuckle in repsonse. "C'mooon, bud~ We both know my method's faster! Just hop in already!" If Wukong's eyes weren't like a fully black void, his playful eyeroll would've been very much noticeable. He hopped off his cloud, letting it disappear as he approached the portal, straight up jumping into it. Macaque soon followed after, closing the portal once he went through.
On the other side, you anxiously waited on your throne. While you didn't think any of your regular servants would harm you, you still felt a bit uncomfortable without at least one of your champions around. After all, a human ruling over an army of demons wasn't exactly a common thing demons respected. Only those who were already your servants in other lives would respect you fully... probably. And you had no recollection of any of your previous lives.
Your anxiety faded however once your two blue and purple champions emerged from a shadow portal in front of your throne. The sworn brothers didn't hesitate and kneeled upon seeing you.
"Apologies for the wait and for worrying you, Master. The thief ended up using the artifact and I ended up having to fight him to stop him." Macaque says, somewhat sounding ashamed of himself. He didn't like it whenever he didn't meet his Master's expectations. Even if something was out of his control.
You smiled softly as you leaned back. "It's fine, Mac-Mac. It was inevitable if that guy refused to face justice... I'm just glad you're alright and came back to me alive and well." The simian's frown turned into a bright smile as his tail swayed happily behind him. If you used that nickname for him, then he must've done everything right!
Afterwards, you smiled at your blue champion. "Thanks for finding him and taking him home again, Wu-Wu. Great job." You praised him. Now his tail was also swaying more happily. He nodded his head and grunted quietly in acknowledgement. Despite him not talking quite as much as his brother, and usually not showing emotions, you knew he was just as happy and content as your purple champion. His gentle tail sways were enough to understand.
The ginger-furred monkey then pulled out the artifact from underneath his cloaked side, still kneeling as he stared at you expectantly. "Shall I return this to the storage? The Archivist wanted to check on the items later today."
You scratched your head in thought for a moment as you hummed. "Guess that would be the best idea... If the Archivist shows up, then it's best if we have all the items that we borrowed... I don't wanna deal with his colleagues again, to be honest." You admitted, physically cringing a bit at the memory of your last encounter with the group the Archivist was involved in. They weren't happy when an eternal branding iron you used on your servants was stolen. Especially the Judge...
Wukong, knowing what you meant, nodded again as he stood up and bowed his head. "Of course, Master." Then he turned and walked away towards the palace's storage. Meanwhile, Macaque continued to smile brightly at you.
"Do you have another task for me to complete as well, Master?" He asked, eager to follow your every command like an obedient puppy. You hummed in thought again, but before you could respond, you heard the familiar voice of a certain mysterious figure in a black cloak and a fox-like mask...
"They do not. I have a task for you instead, Six-Eared Macaque."
The cloaked entity with the fox mask revealed himself as he walked out from behind your throne... When did he get here? Then again, he was one of the Archivist's colleagues, so you didn't question much anymore due to all they were able to do... You raised a suspicious eyebrow at the masked entity as you spoke. "...What task?" Those cloaked beings weren't to be trusted with how they operated. And while the Oracle usually spoke of the truth and was one of the more gentle-sounding members, you could never be sure whether or not there was malice behind anything their group did.
He responded in a blank tone, as if it were obvious. "The task involves going to the Underworld and retrieving the Scroll of Memory." Macaque visibly flinched slightly as one of his ears twitched at the mention of the Underworld, yet he avoided eye contact and remained quiet. The masked entity continued. "It's not the scroll itself that you might be interested in, but rather the curse that is bound to the scroll. That curse would be an extremely great addition to your palace's security." The entity added.
You grimaced a bit in thought, looking at him with uncertainty as you propped up your head on your hand. "Mhm... Are you sure this is worth it? Macaque isn't exactly fond of the Underworld, and I don't wanna make any of my servants, especially my champions, uncomfortable... Maybe Wukong could-" "NO!" Your purple champion suddenly cut you off as he looked at you, his void black eyes were wide open in panic, practically begging you to hear him out. He coughed awkwardly before bowing his head in a bit of shame and embarrassment for cutting you off.
"M-My apologies for interrupting you, Master... But I'd like to take on this mission myself, if I may." He said firmly, determination clear on his face as he tried to avoid this uncomfortable feeling of having to return to the Underworld. But he really wanted to prove himself worthy as one of your champions. He outwardly expressed his love and devotion towards you so much more than his sworn brother, and yet Wukong usually ended up getting more missions than him despite that.
You gave him a concerned look. "Are you sure? I know you don't like the Underworld after... Well, you know..."
He nodded his head without hesitation. "Yes, Master. Please let me retrieve that scroll for you."
After another short moment of uncertainty, you sighed in defeat. You stood up and moved towards your purple champion, petting his fluffy head. "Alright, fine... But if anything makes you feel unsafe or uncomfortable, I want you to just come back... Okay? I don't want you to get hurt, Mac-Mac. I'd rather have you here with me without that scroll than have the scroll without you." You said softly as you kissed his forehead. The dark-furred monkey blushed as his breath hitched at your touch and words.
That was all the motivation he needed.
His bright smile returned as he joyfully saluted. "Yes, Master! I'll make you proud!" You chuckled at his sudden eagerness. Almost immediately, a shadow portal opened up beneath the simian as he dropped into it, vanishing. Upon the closing of the portal, you raised an eyebrow at the Oracle.
"...Is this scroll really necessary?" You asked quietly, to which the entity silently nodded. You sighed as you pinched the bridge of your nose.
"It's not just for your safety, Your Majesty. It's also required to garner enough attention for the future paths to be connected to the present path." He responded flatly, which confused you. But again, you didn't question his words due to his occupation. And soon enough, Wukong returned from the storage. The monkey in blue walked up to you and bowed, as if to say he had finished his task.
You petted him as well, also kissing his forehead with a little smile. "Good job, Wu-Wu." And just like his sworn brother, his tail started to sway in a happy daze as he blushed despite his still expressionless face. He clearly also loved it when you called him by that nickname. The Oracle, upon seeing the Monkey King return and being showered in affection, quickly bid you farewell for now as he still seemed to be busy with other matters. Meanwhile, you continued to pet the ginger-furred monkey, waiting for his brother again. You even decided to continue petting him while your were seated on your throne.
However, at some point while petting your blue champion, a thought crossed your mind...
"Wu-Wu... If your brother isn't back within the next three hours, I want you to go look for him in the Underworld... And help him out if need be." Wukong's eyes were closed as he leaned into your gentle, addictive touch, while his tail swayed slowly behind him. He simply nodded without opening his eyes.
"Understood, Master."

you know the one shot you wrote for possessed Macaque? I know this is a lot to ask, but I don't have access to ao3, could you maybe post it in tumblr?
Oh absolutely, dude! I don't mind at all, please never hesitate to ask me things like these! :DD
Destiny’s Redemption
Summary: “You won't win this. Even you have to realize that, right?” Macaque said, narrowing his eyes at Wukong.
Rather than answering, the latter leveled the Shadow with a glare. There seemed to be something beyond pure anger in his eyes, but Macaque couldn’t, for the life of him, discern what it was.
“This is a suicide mission, Wukong. You can't defeat the LBD all on your own; you may be strong, but even you have your limits.” he scoffed, trying to get his point across, although his words didn’t elicit any reaction.
In all honesty, he didn't know why he was currently standing behind the Monkey King, trying to convince him not to walk towards his doom. Wasn't that what he wanted? His revenge?
…He decided that, no it wasn't, at least not like this. If there was one person in this realm who got to ram a weapon through the King's chest, it was him, not some destiny-crazed maniac. Convincing himself that that was the only reason he was currently standing way too close to the LBDs location, he kept talking to the other simian.
OR
A “What if Macaque got possessed instead of Wukong” kinda story
Story: “You won't win this. Even you have to realize that, right?” Macaque said, narrowing his eyes at Wukong.
Rather than answering, the latter leveled the Shadow with a glare. There seemed to be something beyond pure anger in his eyes, but Macaque couldn’t, for the life of him, discern what it was.
“This is a suicide mission, Wukong .
…He decided that, no it wasn't, at least not like this . If there was one person in this realm who got to ram a weapon through the King's chest, it was him, not some destiny-crazed maniac. Besides, he wouldn't admit it, but the chances of defeating the LBD with Wukong dead were… unfavorable to say the least.
Convincing himself that those were the only reasons he was currently standing way too close to the LBDs location, he kept talking to the other simian.
However, it didn't seem to matter what he asked or yelled out, as a moment later Wukong was gone, off to the horrifying armor looming in the distance.
Macaque sighed.
“Well, that's just great,” he mumbled to no one but himself, before disappearing into his shadow, bent on chasing after the other.
He can't lie, once he arrived on the battlefield he was kind of impressed by how good Wukong was holding up against the Bone Demon. He was also surprised Nezha and the Monkie Kid were both there, watching, just like him. Probably also torn between helping and risking to be in the way or just letting the King handle it.
Maybe he was wrong, the Six-Eared Simian thought to himself, maybe this would be easier than he thought, maybe his worries were unfounded. But just as he tried to convince himself to relax a bit, he realized the Lady Bone Demon was making a straight run towards where MK and Nezha stood.
He heard it before he saw it, but he was sure both the Lotus Prince and the Kid weren't blessed with as many ears as he was, so Macaque sprang into action before the other two could comprehend what was happening.
He created a shadow portal under MK as well as the Prince, knowing the latter could probably get away in time but not wanting to take any chances.
The LBD reached their previous location just when they disappeared into the shadows, and if he wasn't so focused on saving their lives, seeing all four— MK, Nezha, the Bone Demon and Wukong who was currently making his way over to them at unbelievable speeds— seriously surprised would have been entertainment for hours at least.
However, he had a job to do. He swiftly portalled Nezha and Xiaotian to safety, dismissing MK's startled yelp. Without hesitation, he reappeared behind the Lady Bone Demon, a quiet "boo" slipping from his lips. Before she could fully turn, Macaque had already vanished into the shadows, replaced by the Monkey King charging at her with lightning speed, fists raised and a fury no one would ever wish to face. Macaque would know.
He watched as the Monkey King punched the LBD through several mountains. But he didn’t stop there, and their battle seemed to pick up speed, with the King clearly having the upper hand.
Macaque got a bit closer, deciding on observing and helping with his shadow powers here and there by either tripping the LBD or some other small shtick. However he did still try his best to stay at a bit of a distance, not really in the mood on becoming a shadow sandwich by accident.
Apparently, though, Lady Bone Demon was not amused by his little distractions. She sharply turned towards where he was hiding. Wukong followed her gaze, realizing a moment later whom she was probably looking at.
“Not happening,” the King hissed just as he lunged at the Bone Demon, but she dodged the attack easily, although forced to turn her glare back towards Wukong.
She knew she didn't have much time left before the Monkey King would land a fatal hit, which forced her to think fast.
Her glare turned to a manic smirk as an idea seemed to come to her mind. And if there's one thing Macaque and Wukong wouldn't need right now it's her getting ideas. Even Wukong, as dense as the monkey appeared to be at times, seemed to realize she had come up with something .
The King narrowed his eyes at her, “Whatever it is you're thinking, you might as well throw it out right now, this fight is already lost for you and you know it. ”
She responded with a sickening smile that made Macaque’s stomach churn. “Oh, but don’t you know? Destiny will always find a way.” That was all the warning the Shadow received before blinding, searing pain erupted in his head. He collapsed out of the shadow he had been hiding in, clutching his head as his distorted mind filled with images of a former friend standing over him with a solemn expression and a staff raised high.
He thought he heard someone screaming his name, but his own cries drowned out most of the surrounding sounds. Through the haze, he saw a blurred figure in front of him, seemingly trying to steady him. The orange figure looked vaguely familiar, but before he could make any kind of connection, he was promptly pulled into unconsciousness.
Wukong could only watch as a blue mist appeared in his peripheral vision. If he looked closely, he could see faces of long-lost souls within it. The mist seeped through the shadows just before a screaming Macaque tumbled out, clutching his head in pain.
“Get... out... of... my... head!” Macaque roared, his voice raw and filled with a pain so intense it made Wukong’s heart ache.
“Oh, how touching,” she sneered, her mental grip on Macaque tightening. “But I’m afraid it’s too late for that, simian.”
If he wasn’t mad before, he definitely was now, enemy or not, he knew Macaque saved MK earlier and stayed even after that, helping him with small tricks.
Wukong rushed to Macaque's side and crouched down, his voice tinged with panic. “Macaque, hey, stay with me-”
He thought he heard the Lady Bone Demon laughing behind him. But just as he turned to confront her, he was slammed to the ground by a smirking Macaque, his eyes icy blue. The sight sent a shiver down Wukong’s spine, but before he could react, Macaque summoned his shadow staff, intent on aiming a fierce blow at Wukong’s head.
Wukong dodged, though not as quickly as he would have liked. The fight with the Lady Bone Demon had left him exhausted —despite having the upper hand, she had landed some solid hits. Now, facing Macaque’s unsettlingly cold smile, Wukong was at a loss.
His movements turned more defensive, and he could see the Lady Bone Demon smirking in his lateral vision, clearly enjoying the spectacle.
“Don't get too distracted, Peaches. I might just land a lucky hit this time,” Macaque’s voice, distorted and dripping with false sweetness, taunted as he continued his relentless assault.
“Don't you dare abuse his memories,” the King growled, surprising even himself a little with how much rage pooled in his gut as the smug shadow monkey chuckled at his angered expression.
“Oh? Isn't that just absolutely hilarious, acting like you aren't the reason why these memories exist in the first place,” Macaque laughed, the cold smile turning wider.
Wukong was about to retort with something, anything he could really, but he stopped, words stuck in his throat and a familiar, centuries long guilt settling in his gut.
Wukong’s breath hitched, his grip on the Ruyi Jingu Bang faltering slightly. “I know,” he whispered, barely audible over the clash of their weapons and the echoing laughter of the Lady Bone Demon. “I know what I did... and I’m sorry.”
Wukong knew that turning a life-or-death battle into an impromptu therapy session might not have been his brightest idea, but seeing his former friend with that cold, corrupted smirk and manic gaze— knowing he was the reason for it in the first place —he couldn’t bring himself to stay silent.
Macaque’s eyes—icy and foreign—narrowed in confusion for a brief second, his staff pausing mid-swing before he forced it down towards Wukong again. But the hesitation was enough. Wukong caught the strike, the impact resonating through his bones, but he didn’t let go.
The King noticed the hesitation in the other and needed only a moment before the full realization struck him. It was almost laughable that it had taken a fight to the death for him to finally open up about his deep-seated issues and regrets.
Yet, if all it took to make the other stop attacking—or at least to ease his blows—was to express his feelings and show vulnerability, he mused that most would likely have preferred such a straightforward solution.
Of course, he wasn’t most people; he was far more emotionally constipated than the average monkey. Nevertheless, he pressed on, driven not only by the need to win the fight but also by a small, persistent voice in his heart that urged him to protect the shadow from further harm.
“I’m sorry!” Wukong shouted, louder this time, his voice raw and pleading. “I’m sorry for what I did to you, Macaque! I was blind, I was stupid, and I let my pride destroy everything between us.”
The shadow monkey snarled, wrenching his staff free and shoving Wukong back with a burst of his shadow magic. “You think an apology is going to fix centuries of suffering ?!” His voice was distorted, twisted by the Lady Bone Demon’s influence, but Wukong could still hear the underlying pain.
“No,” Wukong admitted, panting from the exertion of their clash. “No, it won’t. But I have to say it. I’ve regretted that day for so long, Macaque. I didn’t understand... I didn’t see what you were trying to do.”
“Shut up!” Macaque’s scream was filled with rage, but also with something more— a deep, unresolved hurt that clawed at the edges of his mind, even through the Lady Bone Demon’s control. He charged at Wukong again, but this time his strikes were erratic, fueled by emotion rather than strategy.
Wukong deflected the blows, his heart aching with every clash. “You were my best friend,” he continued, voice cracking. “Maybe even more than that. And I threw it all away because I couldn’t see past my own stubbornness.”
Macaque’s resolve wavered, his movements slowing, the icy blue in his eyes flickering as memories—of laughter, of shared battles, of moments of closeness, of sitting under a peach tree in each other's arms —pushed through the fog of the Lady Bone Demon’s control. But the demon’s influence was still strong, twisting his thoughts, trying to drown out Wukong’s words.
“You’re lying,” Macaque hissed, though the conviction in his voice was weakening. “You’re just trying to manipulate me... like you always did.”
“No,” Wukong said firmly, stepping forward even as Macaque raised his staff again. “Not this time.” He dropped his staff, leaving himself open, vulnerable. “If you hate me, then fine. But know that I never hated you. I—” he swallowed, the words heavy on his tongue. “I love you, Macaque. I always have.”
Macaque froze, the words hitting him like a physical blow. The ice in his eyes cracked, a flicker of his true self shining through the cold blue. “Wukong…?” he whispered, the name filled with a mixture of longing and confusion.
Before the Lady Bone Demon could reassert her control, Wukong closed the distance between them, his hands cupping Macaque’s face gently. “Please, come back to me. I can't make the same mistake twice. I can't fight you again.”
For a moment, the world seemed to stop. The battlefield, the chaos, the lingering presence of the Lady Bone Demon—all of it faded into the background as Macaque stared into Wukong’s eyes.
As the Shadow held him in his gaze, the weight of their shared history pressed down on him. His heart ached with a mix of anger and longing, the emotions clashing like the two fighting against the Lady Bone Demon.
Macaque felt the icy walls— both the one of the Lady Bone Demon and his own— starting to crumble. And then, when Wukong’s words pierced through his defenses—words filled with genuine regret and unspoken love—Macaque surged forward pressing his lips to Wukong’s in a desperate, fervent kiss, clearly surprising both of them simultaneously.
It wasn’t a calculated move or a tactical advantage; it was a raw expression of everything that had been left unsaid between them.
Would Macaque later regret that he jumped straight to kissing the one guy he had been plotting to take down for ages—so much so that he even put on an entire shadow play about how awful he was—just because of a few sweet words that turned him into a puddle? Probably, yeah. But that was a problem for future Macaque, and present Macaque just couldn't be bothered to care.
To his absolute surprise, as their lips met, Macaque could feel the LBD’s power weakening, the force of their shared emotions shattering the Lady Bone Demon’s control over him. The icy blue in his eyes dissolved, replaced by familiar warmth. The cold, blue aura around him flickered and then dissipated, leaving only the two of them, holding onto each other as if their lives depended on it.
The Lady Bone Demon shrieked in fury, clearly in pain at the push against her control and also angered to no end about her — now failing — plan, knowing she was in no condition to fight anymore.
As the two simians broke apart and the intense moment between them drew to a close, the battlefield fell silent. For a heartbeat, they stood there, the enormity of their shared history and the weight of their recent revelations sinking in.
However the silence didn't last long, broken by chuckles from both of them.
“Did– did you just free me with the power of love?! ” Macaque squawked, seemingly as flabbergasted about this whole ordeal as Wukong felt.
“ I never knew you were a Disney princess ,” Wukong muttered with a chuckle, earning a glare with no real heat behind it from Macaque.
It took them only a moment longer to recover, knowing they still had some business to take care of. And breathless but determined, Wukong picked up his staff, his eyes locking onto the Bone Demon with renewed fire. Beside him, Macaque stood ready, shadows coiling around his hands, now fully under his control, no longer tainted by the demon’s influence.
“Ready to finish this?” Wukong asked, his voice steady, filled with a confidence he hadn’t felt in centuries and a warmth he thought he lost a long time ago.
Macaque smirked, the old mischief returning to his gaze. “Let’s show her what happens when you mess with the Great Sage and his shadow.”
Wukong hesitated for a second. That didn't feel right. “How about The Great Warrior and his King instead?” He proclaimed with a smile.
Macaque seemed stunned for a moment before sighing, a small smile adorning his features.
Well then, my King —” Macaque chuckled, relishing the moment as Wukong’s warm expression turned dumbfounded, with a flustered blush. “—let's get this over with, shall we?”
Wukong nodded a moment later, before they launched themselves at the Lady Bone Demon, their combined strength and fury overwhelming her quite easily, especially after she had expended so much power on Macaque earlier.
With every strike, every coordinated move, they pushed her back, her growing distress evident in her darting eyes.
Each blow seemed to sap the Lady Bone Demon’s strength, her once formidable stance wavering under their relentless assault. The battlefield, now a chaotic mess of shadows and light clashing with ice, bore witness to their unyielding determination.
Wukong and Macaque moved in perfect sync, their actions a testament to their broken past. They anticipated each other’s moves with uncanny precision, their combined efforts creating a powerful rhythm that steadily wore down the demon’s defenses.
The Lady Bone Demon’s roars of fury and frustration echoed through the air, mingling with the thunderous clashes of their weapons.
As the battle raged on, her attacks grew more desperate, each one less accurate than the last. The weight of their attacks seemed to push her towards the edge of collapse.
With a final, synchronized maneuver, Wukong and Macaque delivered a one last strike. The Lady Bone Demon’s form shattered under the force of their attack, her dark essence dissolving. The once menacing presence faded into nothingness, leaving only the echoes of her defeat behind…
As the dust settled, Wukong and Macaque stood side by side, breathing heavily but victorious. The battlefield was silent, the threat of the Lady Bone Demon finally gone.
Wukong turned to Macaque, his heart pounding not just from the battle but from the realization that they had just fought together, as they once had, centuries ago. “Thank you,” he said, his voice soft, filled with genuine gratitude and affection.
Macaque looked at him, the animosity that had defined their relationship for so long softening, if only just a little. “Don’t think this means I’ve forgiven you completely,” he said, and while he wasn't lying, his tone conveyed that he was teasing rather than hostile.
Wukong chuckled, a smile breaking across his face. “I wouldn’t dream of it. But maybe... we can start over?”
Macaque considered him for a moment before nodding. “Yeah, maybe we can.”
As they stood there side by side, the centuries of pain and regret began to ease, making room for the possibility of something new, something stronger. It wasn’t a cure-all, but it was a beginning—a chance for The King and The Warrior to start mending a bond they had long believed was lost, realizing now that it was never truly gone...

Note
Redson is very much the spoiled child throwing a tantrum at his grounding. That is absolutely not fair! Just a few days prior, his parents were maniacally laughing at the idea of conquest and destruction. What suddenly changed!? It's all just boiling down to Redson not coping with the new and unexpected shift in his parents' moral compass after reuniting with Wukong well at all. His whole life he'd been told stories about his father's exploits and dreams of conquest thay got ruined by Sun Wukong amd whole he knows Wukong is his uncle, most of his knowledge of him up until that point ia Wukong sealing his father away making him an enemy. He does not understand why the idea that his little brother might fear him shakes his father so much, mainly because he doesn't understand the underlying complexity in DBK and Sun Wukong's relationship at that point.
Prev on Marble Egg au.
Yeah, Red Son isn't having a fun time. From his perspective, he's been gearing up to help his parents take over the world for centuries, only for his mom and dad to decide "Nah we ain't doing that anymore." and start being chummy with the very man who sealed his father away for 500 years! This also applies to the Slow Boiled au.
He knows Wukong is his uncle by bond. But he also grew up being told how much he hurt his family. From Red's perspective, its like DBK forgave his deadbeat brother for nearly killing him.
Add on the fact that Red canonically didn't know/remember the Samadhi Fire ritual, and Red feels no "debt" to Sun Wukong like his parents do. Red causes a lot of havoc in S1 in order to make up for his parents "sudden" change of heart.
But a major factor that Red misses, something that only comes to a head around the end of S1 with his father falling under LBD's control; is that his father is disappointed. Not in Red, never in his dear calf, even if DBK is finding it hard to bond with the grown-up version of his child. But in himself.
DBK, post S1: "Son, are you... afraid of me?" Red Son, confused: "About as much as a child should be of their father. Why?" DBK, disappointed huff: "There's a fine line between respect and terror. With respect, people react towards your character - with fear they only react to avoid your hand... I never wanted Sun Wukong to be afraid to confront me." Red Son, incensed: "But father! He humiliated you! He locked you away for 500 years! He took you from us!" DBK, voice raising: "And you think you would have been better off had I been successful!?" Red Son: (*flinches at the raise of DBK's voice*) DBK: (*pales as he notices Red's reaction.*) DBK: "Son I... I never wanted my family to fear me. I never wanted to be the sort of father who's child flinched at his words... not like my own. I hope you come to understand my reasoning for abandoning our plans." (*leaves*) Red Son: (*concerned and even more confused*)
Another part of DBK's disappointment in becoming a threat to his brother, is the thought that he had become a threat to his own child. He never wanted that. He pacified Heaven and abandoned Hell in order to have a family he would cherish, why would he ever want them to fear him?
The cause behind his rampage all those years ago is lost to the ages, and DBK doesn't even care to remember any more. He needs to rebuild the bond between his family, one chain at a time.

2 Weeks...
and still I'm hung up on this video!
youtube
And guess what? I have another theory!
So, as you can see by the title, it's about who Macaque made a deal with. And if you watch the video, you'll find out it was with none other than Python Demon! Who's that? Well, basically a big red snake demon with very similar abilities to Macaque. But what if I told you I don't believe Macaque made a deal with this demon but was instead trained by him?
It would explain why he sounds fairly confused by Xiang Liu's question annnd this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, here's what I'm getting at, we all remember that memory Wukong witnessed in the pagoda, right? The one where Macaque was laughing like a maniac? Well consider the following, what if, after a long time of training with the Python Demon, Macaque eventually decides to go off and do his thing (attacking the pilgrims.) He and Wukong fight, and, let's say, Wukong says something that sends him off the edge.
Making his powers go haywire as well because of all the strong emotions he's feeling, similarly to Mk above.
Link to my first theory:

Ok I’ve seen it and at the moment I just have one thing to say that is really really important
We don’t see Macaque smile. Not once (except when mocking wukong but that seems more like a genuine ‘I’m enjoying this’ bit). His maniacal grin is gone. If that was his display of fear and anxiety, then not doing it means he’s more comfortable, or at least he feels more in control, more himself. Even looking back we don’t see it much in s4, it’s been slowly disappearing in front of our eyes.
Our boy is slowly coming into his own just as much as MK…

You know he was smug as shit during this arc
[ID: An uncolored two panel comic. In the first, Sun Wukong is on his somersault cloud, floating about shoulder-level with Sha Wujing. He has a smug expression. Sha Wujing looks mildly concerned as he asks, "You've been grinning like a maniac since we found out Sifu and 师兄 drank the pregnancy water. What's up with that? You're starting to creep me out." In the second panel, Sun Wukong is visible from the shoulders up. There's a trans flag imposed over the uncolored sketch, and Sun Wukong simply responds, "Irony." Sha Wujing, off-camera, replies, "ah." End ID]
